Lifting the Veil: The World of Secret Societies

On September 20, Historic Concordia Cemetery hosted a fascinating presentation, “Lifting the Veil: The World of Secret Societies.”

Members of our Research Committee shared their findings about several secret and fraternal societies that were active in Buffalo, shedding light on the organizations whose rituals, symbols, and influence often remained hidden from public view.

The program was hosted by Tim Shaw—author, historian, psychic, and Friend of Concordia—who guided the discussion with his deep knowledge and engaging storytelling. Guests were given a rare glimpse into the shadowed world of secrecy, symbolism, and the surprising impact these societies had on Buffalo’s history and Concordia itself.
