We Are Honored!

Historic Concordia Cemetery is proud to share that we have received the 2025 Western New York German Cultural Award (for an organization)

The presentation took place on November 13 at Hofbräuhaus Buffalo, where Todd Cowles, President of Concordia Cemetery, and Chris Cavarello, Volunteer Coordinator, accepted the award—along with a commemorative Hofbräuhaus stein!

A special moment of the evening was receiving a beautifully framed letter from the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in New York Till Knorn, presented by Matthew Collard, Honorary Consul of Buffalo. The letter congratulated the Friends of Concordia Cemetery and praised our ongoing work to preserve the history and stories of the German immigrants who helped build Buffalo.

We congratulate Elaine Timm who also received the award (for an individual).

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the German Citizen Newspaper and Hofbräuhaus Buffalo for recognizing our work and for this incredible honor.
