United Way Day of Caring 2025
Despite rainy skies and summer heat, an incredible team of volunteers showed up with energy, dedication, and heart to help preserve this sacred and historic ground on the United Way Day of Caring, June 25, 2025
Volunteers from United Silicone, the American Arbitration Association, GEICO, the Merchants Insurance Group, M&T Bank, and Concordia’s own volunteers came together to make a visible impact. Their work included mowing and trimming overgrown grass, pruning bushes, filling holes along our aging driveway, and straightening five full rows of veterans’ grave markers—an especially meaningful gesture of respect for those who served.
Thanks to their efforts, the cemetery is more welcoming to visitors and better protected against long-term wear and tear. Their service continues the legacy of community stewardship that Historic Concordia Cemetery depends on.
We are also grateful for the donation of soil and gravel from F. Cimato Topsoil and to Green Genie for their donated time, expertise and earth-friendly cleaning of dozens of historic tombstones.
We are deeply grateful to these volunteers and to the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County for organizing this powerful day of service. Your time and hard work help preserve not only the beauty of the cemetery, but the memory of those who rest here.
